Genxt, the sole authorized distributor of Apple products in Nepal, has officially made the iPhone 12 Pro Max available in Nepal. And just like the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, the Max version will also receive 1-year of insurance, courtesy of Genxt. Here, I’ll be discussing the iPhone 12 Pro Max and its features, specs, official price, availability in Nepal, and more.
Contrary to the cheaper iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12’s aluminum build, both Pro models come with a premium “surgical-grade” stainless steel frame instead. Additionally, iPhone 12 Pro Max is available in four color options altogether: Silver, Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue. More importantly, all new iPhones this year follow the design principle of the decade-old iPhone 4; with a flat-edge on the side. Still, the display has a rounded corner and curved edges like previous iPhones.
Yet, the rumors regarding a smaller notch didn’t turn out to be true. The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s “bathtub” notch is similar in size to the iPhone 11 series. Moreover, it is also IP68 rated against splash, water, and dust. According to Apple, it can survive submersion up to 6 meters of water for a maximum of 30 minutes.
Display
In terms of display, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is for those who want a large screen. Its 6.7-inches OLED panel is the biggest screen in the entire history of iPhones. Compared to 12 Pro’s 6.1-inches panel, the Pro Max’s screen has a higher 2778 x 1284 pixel count with a 458 PPI. Besides the size & pixel density, both screens have the same display properties.
Moreover, it is also Dolby Vision, HDR, and Wide Color (P3) compliant, making the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s display one of the most visually stunning ones in the market – at least on paper. Interestingly, Apple has worked with Corning to come up with “Ceramic Shield” for tougher protection against drops. By introducing nano-ceramic crystals in the glass matrix which form interlocked structures, Apple is claiming up to 4x better drop performance. Sadly, Apple customers are gonna have to wait a little longer to find a high refresh rate display. The iPhone 12 series is still stuck on 60Hz.
Performance
“Our fastest iPhone yet” has been a consistent talking point on every iPhone launch event ever. But this time around, that claim is taken a step further with the support for the latest 5G connectivity. Using custom made 5G antennas and radio equipment, Apple says the iPhone 12 series supports the widest range of 5G bands among any other smartphone in the market. As we know, there are two spectrums of 5G: sub-6GHz and mmWave. For now, the faster mmWave 5G is only available in the US.
In fact, 5G was one of the most talked-about features during the entire product showcase event. With mmWave 5G, the iPhone 12 Pro Max can reach peak upload and download speeds of up to 200 Mbps and 4Gbps in ideal conditions, respectively. But considering the use case, its “Smart Data Mode” will automatically scale down to 4G LTE connection when 5G isn’t needed – and immediately switches back to 5G, once you need a faster network. This battery-saving feature analyzes network requirements in real-time.
Besides 5G, the new A14 Bionic silicon based on the 5nm process node is ridiculously fast as well. This is also the first commercially available mobile SoC based on the efficient 5nm process. We saw this SoC make its debut on the iPad Air 2020 which was unveiled around a month ago. It packs in 11.8 billion transistors, which is about 40% more than its predecessor. Apple’s silicons have always been the industry leaders and if the company’s claims about the A14 Bionic are to be believed, the next-gen flagship SoCs powering Android phones have a big competition ahead.
To put it in perspective, Apple is claiming a 50% faster CPU & GPU performance compared to any other smartphone chip. It has a hexa-core CPU setup with 2 high-performance and 4 high-efficiency cores, and a quad-core GPU with improved memory compression. Moreover, the 16-core Neural Engine provides up to 80% faster operations. The dedicated ML (Machine Learning) accelerators on the A14 Bionic with its 2nd-gen architecture is now 70% faster.
Likewise, its new ISP (Image Signal Processor) allows for Dolby Vision recording, but more on that later on. Amidst the Apple-Epic debacle, Riot Game’s “League of Legends: Wild Rift” will also be coming to the iPhone 12 series. But, the company hasn’t disclosed the exact date for now. Excitingly enough, Apple has bumped the base storage variant to 128GB from 64GB. You can also choose between 256GB and 512GB memory options.
Camera
Getting to the cameras, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, as expected features the best sensors ever put on an iPhone. It has a trio of 12MP lenses at the back; alongside a LiDAR sensor. It has a 7-element 12MP primary wide camera with f/1.6 aperture, 26mm focal length. While the 12 Pro features a 12MP primary wide camera as well, the one on the Pro Max has a 47% bigger 1.7μm sensor. What this means is that this lens is much more capable of letting-in light (87% more as per Apple’s claims), for superior low-light photography. Also, it uses a DSLR-like “Sensor-shift” OIS technology for image stabilization.
Then there’s the 5-element 12MP f/2.4 aperture ultra-wide camera with 13mm focal length and 120-degree field of view—the same as in 12 Pro. The final 6-element 12MP lens is a telephoto camera that is slightly superior to the one on 12 Pro. It has an f/2.2 aperture, 65mm focal length, and is capable of 2.5x optical zoom in and 2x optical zoom out (total 5x optical zoom range). Here, both the primary wide and telephoto lens support (OIS) Optical Image Stabilization.
LiDAR Scanner
Similarly, iPhone 12 Pro Max also comes with the LiDAR scanner, which is absent on the regular iPhone 12 & 12 Mini. It eases your AR workload while also improving low-light photography and videography. Paired with A14 Bionic’s Neural Engine, Apple claims that the iPhone 12 Pro Max can deliver the best night mode portrait images. The iPhone 12 series is also the first-and-only smartphone in the market that can record 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR videos at 4K/60fps. Users can also edit the HDR recordings from the “Photos” app itself – another first for a smartphone.
Dolby Vision recording is also possible on the 12MP f/2.2 front-facing TrueDepth camera, but only up to 4K/30fps. Other camera features on the iPhone 12 Pro Max include 87% improvement in low-light photos (compared to iPhone 11 Pro Max) and computational photography niceties like Smart HDR 3, Deep Fusion, etc. Also exclusive to the 12 Pro series is “Apple ProRAW” from all four lenses. This feature is especially alluring to professionals who seek more creative controls in their shots. Apple says this feature will be available on iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max starting later this year.
Rest of the specs
The entire iPhone 12 lineup ships with the latest iOS 14 out-of-the-box. In terms of battery, as usual, Apple hasn’t disclosed the actual capacity of the Li-Ion cell on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Rather, it says the phone should last up to 20 hours of continuous video playback. But, a TENAA listing has confirmed that the 12 Pro Max comes with a 3687mAh battery.
It also features a “MagSafe” wireless charger and a whole lot of magnetically-attaching accessories including a wallet. It supports 15W MagSafe and 7.5W Qi wireless charging.
Unfortunately, Apple is still sticking with the Lightning connector for this generation of iPhones. Using a 20W charger, it can juice up 50% battery in just 30 minutes. In a bid to bring the manufacturing cost down to keep the prices consistent (and to reduce carbon emission), Apple won’t be shipping the iPhone 12 series with an earphone, and a charging adapter inside the box. Still, you will be getting a USB Type-C to the Lightning cable inside the box. Even though the price of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in the US is admirable, buyers in Nepal are still gonna face a heavy price tag.
Back Camera: Triple: • Ultra-wide: 12MP f/2.4, 120° FOV, 5-elements lens, 13mm focal length • Wide: 12MP f/1.6, 7-elements lens, 26mm focal length, 1.7μm pixels, Sensor-shift OIS • Telephoto: 12MP 6-elements lens, OIS, f/2.2, 65mm focal length • LiDAR scanner for AR workloads, night portraits, etc.

iPhone 12 Pro Max Price in Nepal and Availability
The price of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Nepal starts at NPR 185,990 for the base 128GB variant. You can purchase the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Nepal from different authorized Apple resellers like Oliz Store and EvoStore.
Samsung has decided to keep the curved display exclusive to the S21 Ultra to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup this year. Thus, the Galaxy S21 and S21+ come with flat displays of different diagonal.
The Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel used on these phones has a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera placement. Resolution on both the device has been scaled down from QHD+ on their respective predecessor to just FHD+. At least, Samsung is providing the latest Gorilla Glass Victus for the front screen on both the S21 and S21+.
While the S21 sports a 6.2-inch display, the S21+ has a slightly larger display of 6.7-inch. Both screens feature an aspect ratio of 20:9. Samsung has listed the peak brightness of the phones at 1300 nits which are slightly lower than the 1500 nits on the S21 Ultra. Similarly, these devices support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and HDR10+ display technology as well.
Samsung has improved the in-display fingerprint on the new devices. The S21 lineup will mark the debut of the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 that was announced just a few days ago at CES 2021. Compared to its predecessor, the new ultrasonic fingerprint scanner has a 77% larger reader area. The scanner is also 50% faster and can record 1.7x more biometric data.
Like on the Galaxy Note 20, the vanilla S21 comes with a glastic body which is basically a combo of glass and plastic material. Besides Note 20, we’ve seen Samsung use this material in phones like the S20 FE and other mid-range devices. The glastic rear panel on the Galaxy S21 has a glossy finish. On the contrary, S21+ feels more premium here because of its glass build which also uses Gorilla Glass Victus for added protection.
As always, Samsung will be shipping its flagship smartphones with either Snapdragon or an Exynos processor based on the region. Select regions including Samsung’s home market of South Korea, the USA, and China will receive phones with Snapdragon 888. On the other hand, the rest of the global audience will receive the Exynos 2100 variant.
This time around, Samsung has created a lot of hype around its flagship Exynos 2100 chipset, even using catchphrases “Exynos is Back”. The company is confident there won’t be a significant performance gap between the two flagship chipsets. After all, both the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 are based on a similar 5nm process node and a tri-cluster architecture. Some are even claiming superior performance on the Exynos 2100 because of the higher-clocked clock speeds.
The two chipsets come with different GPUs. SD 888 has Adreno 660 while on the other hand, the Exynos 2100 has Mali G78. Though both the processors have integrated 5G modem, the ones used are not the same.
Both S21 and S21+ will sport 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and users can make a choice between 128GB and 256GB of internal storage. However, Samsung has killed SD cards with the Galaxy S21 series so you won’t be able to expand the storage. On the software front, these phones will ship with OneUI 3.1 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.
Camera
Samsung has redesigned the camera bump for its Galaxy S21 lineup. Here, the bump extends from the metal frames of the devices. The bump on the S20 and S21+ are identical and it is smaller than that of the S21 Ultra. It is because the two devices only have three cameras at the back compared to Ultra’s five. Similarly, the camera bump also doesn’t house the LED flash.
Both phones have an identical camera setup too. Samsung has used a triple camera setup led by a 12MP wide sensor for the primary camera. It will have support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Dual Pixel PDAF. There is another 12MP sensor for capturing ultra-wide angle shots. Completing the setup is a 64MP telephoto lens with an optical zoom of up to 3x. The telephoto lens also has the support for OIS and Dual Pixel PDAF. On the front, there is a 10MP selfie camera enclosed inside the circular cut-out.
Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ Color Options
In terms of color options, the Galaxy S21+ is available in four variants – Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Pink. On the other hand, the S21 retains the Violet and Pink color options along with White and Grey. Similarly, there is a custom color option including Phantom Red in certain regions.

Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus Price in Nepal & Availability
The Price of Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus in Nepal is set at Rs. 109,999 and Rs. 1,29,999 respectively. Both these phones come with a single 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
Samsung is a global leader when it comes to smartphone sales. The brand has just released its first device of 2021 and it’s a budget-oriented smartphone. Samsung has now launched the new Galaxy M02s a week after the device was spotted in the Google Play Listing. The device brings quite some significant improvements over its predecessor. Let’s take a look at the specs, features, official price, and availability of Samsung Galaxy M02s in Nepal.
In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy M02s is more like the Galaxy A02s that was announced last year. However, the A02s is yet to be available commercially. The device will make its debut in Europe later this year.
Moving on to the M02s, the device sports a 6.5-inch TFT panel. Like most of the devices in this price segment, the display has an HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch that houses the front camera.
At the back, the triple camera setup is housed inside the rectangular camera module. Other than that, there is a Samsung branding towards the bottom. Interestingly, Samsung has omitted the physical fingerprint sensor that was on the M01s. The device is available in three color options – Black, Blue, and Red.
Here, Samsung Galaxy M02s is powered by an entry-level Snapdragon 450 chipset from Qualcomm. It’s a bit underwhelming when we have phones like Motorola’s Moto E7 Plus that offer SD 460 with 70% better performance for almost the same price. The M02s comes with 3 or 4GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The latter can be expanded up to 512GB with an external SD card.
Getting to the cames, Galaxy M02s now has a total of four cameras. The main camera setup consists of three sensors whereas the fourth is on the front. Except for an additional 2MP macro sensors, the rear camera setup is very similar to that of M01s. We are talking about a 13MP primary sensor accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. Similarly, there is a 5MP sensor on the front for selfies.
Battery
Galaxy M02s features a bigger battery than its predecessor. The 5,000mAh battery is non-removable and it supports a faster 15W charging technology.
Samsung Galaxy M02s Specifications:
Display: 6.5-inch HD+ display
Chipset: Snapdragon 450 (14nm)
RAM: 3/4GB
Storage: 4/64GB, expandable up to 512GB via micro SD card
Samsung Galaxy M02s is now available in Nepal at a price tag of NPR 15,999. This price is for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. Similarly, the lower end 3/32GB variant costs Rs. 14,499. You can buy the Galaxy M02s from different Samsung authorized retail stores across Nepal.
Samsung concluded its Unpacked event last week unveiling 5 new products in total. While the standard Galaxy Note 20 feels like a hot mess (at least for the price), its Ultra sibling is something to look out for. Featuring a new design language, a proper flagship spec-sheet, and an unsurprisingly hefty asking price, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra represents Samsung’s premium Note experience for this year. And the good news is, it is available for purchase in Nepal officially with 1 year of breakage insurance.
The regular Note 20 left a lot to be desired and thankfully, that’s not the case in terms of the Note 20 Ultra. It features a full-fledged glass body with metal frames, so you need not worry about an inexpensive feel at all. As always, it is IP68 dust/water resistant too. But what’s exciting is that this phone also marks the debut of the all-new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The successor to the Gorilla Glass 6, this new technology ensures more fall safety and scratch resistance than ever.
Precisely, it can survive a 2-meter drop while simultaneously also being impervious to various kinds of scratches. Moving on, the back of the phone has a matte finish and is available in three color options: Mystic Bronze, Mystic White, and Mystic Black. Similarly, there’s a huge rectangular camera bump housing the triple rear lenses. And the cutouts, yeah they’re more pronounced than ever with the backplate colored in a matching aesthetics of the rear panel itself.
Here, the new IP68-certified S Pen is now positioned to the left, which brings a couple of exciting features with it. Samsung has managed to reduce the input latency by nearly five times from 42ms to just 9ms on this stylus. With this, the writing experience should be near paper-like. It also supports new “Air Actions” using which you can navigate the phone, take screenshots, etc. without physically connecting the phone’s screen with the S Pen.
Display
Coming to the front, you get a giant 6.9-inches WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display. Unlike the Note 20, it is curved a bit though not excessively like we’ve seen in phones from companies like Huawei, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Vivo with their “Waterfall Display”. In fact, its curvature is the same as in the Galaxy S20 series.
More importantly, Note 20 Ultra’s display has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also utilizes LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) technology using which the display can dynamically change its refresh rate. This should definitely help in maintaining good battery health. Just like the back of the phone, the display is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Infinity-O display houses a front-facing camera inside a small punch-hole cutout. Its diameter is noticeably smaller than the one on Note 20. Moreover, it is also HDR10+ certified and has a terrific 496 PPI of sharpness. All in all, the Note 20 Ultra is well on its way to bag the “best smartphone display” award for the year.
Performance & Memory
Note fanatics on North America and a couple of Asian markets like China and South Korea will definitely be delighted to know that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is powered by the new & mighty Snapdragon 865+. On the contrary, the rest of the market will have to make do with the objectively inferior Exynos 990.
Memory-wise, you’re getting 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM with either 128, 256, or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage in the 5G variant. Similarly, the LTE models will pack in 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 256 or 512GB of storage. But unlike Note 20, you do get an SD card support which can take in up to 1TB of external storage. Note 20 Ultra also brings UWB (Ultra WideBand) technology that we first saw in Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro. Using this, this phone can be used as a digital key. Google’s latest Nearby Share data transfer feature also becomes much faster between UWB-enabled Galaxy devices.
Microsoft-integration
Samsung’s partnership with Microsoft has become more intimate than ever. You can run your Samsung phone’s app in a Windows PC, pin them to the taskbar, and more. Your documents inside the “Samsung Notes” will also sync to OneNote feed on Outlook; but not the other way around. The company is also offering 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for free with the Note 20 series. Here, you can also opt for a bundle that offers a game controller and a clip with it.
Cameras
Moving to the cameras, Note 20 Ultra comes with a better triple-lens system compared to the standard Note 20. It has a massive 108MP main sensor with a small 0.8μm pixel size with PDAF and OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with 120˚ FOV, and finally a 12MP telephoto camera that is capable of 5x lossless optical zoom and 50X digital Space Zoom. The rear camera arrangement is also aided by a dedicated Laser AF (AutoFocus) sensor. On the front, it has a 10MP selfie camera with Dual Pixel AF.
Seeing how the 108MP sensor on the S20 Ultra had focusing issues, it’s nice to see Samsung double-down on its performance by pairing in a Laser AF sensor. Toning down the unuseable 100X zoom to its half is also something to note. Since the new 12MP telephoto lens has a larger pixel size and a tighter focal length, it should theoretically give out good-looking telephoto images. As always, you can also record 8K videos at 24fps and Samsung has also worked on improving Live focus video.
Battery
Finally, the battery on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a sizeable 4500mAh unit that supports 25W fast wired, 15W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. At a time when triple-digit charging is getting more common, it is quite surprising to see Samsung shy away from its own 45W fast charging.
